Essential Oils have been around for thousands of years! The earliest dated reference to essential oils, dates back to 4,500 BC. People have been using them throughout history, and we can benefit from them as well!
There are three main ways to use essential oils, and I use all of these methods on a daily basis.
1. Diffuse – Diffusing adds the oils to the air through an electronic diffuser, a necklace, or you can smell them straight from the bottle.
2. Topical – Certain oils are perfect for using topically. If you have any generic oils and they warn not to use topically, then that is a sure sign that they are not pure therapeutic oils!
3. Internal – Only certain types of oils should be taken internally. And only therapeutic grade oils are considered safe to consume. Be sure to read the directions on the bottle, as not all oils should be taken this way.
Not all oils are made the same. Many have additives, synthetics, and other chemicals. The FDA doesn’t even require it to be a 100% oil for a company to label their oils as “pure.”
It’s important to know where your oils are coming from, as others can be potentially dangerous if used incorrectly or if they have other additives.
One of the reasons we trust and use Young Living, is because they have open door policies with their farms and facilities. They own or operate all of their farms, and are in control of their entire process. They even use their own oils to keep pests off of the plants!
